Easter Sunday service (April 5) … started at 7:17am as the sun attempted to break through the clouds… thank God the rain held off … what a gathering … kudos to our friends at the Alamo Drafthouse for collaborating to create a crazy cool outdoor amphitheater … the gathering featured a beautiful mosaic of staff and volunteers from Mobile Loaves & Fishes, future residents of Community First! Village and friends from the community … breaking bread & worshipping together … the central theme of our worship: Jesus did not come to make bad people good … He came to make dead people alive. The gathering was an awesome preview of the great things God has in store as we seek to create a life-giving spiritual growth model that launches a wave of dynamic Christ followers from Community First! and beyond.
The Easter sunrise service was followed by a movie night (Tuesday, April 7) hosted by our friends at the Alamo Drafthouse … give it up for Karate Kid on the big screen. Click here to read more about an innovative partnership. Creating upbeat, life-giving environments that facilitate relationship is a huge value. An affirming "shout out" to the stellar team at BBQ for Christ and to the faithful volunteers who served up a Texas-sized dose of hospitality. We are pumped that in a few months we'll begin moving residents in and giving our chronically disabled, homeless brothers and sisters a place to call HOME at Community First! Village. More to come!
