We Are "Pregnant"

The new "welcome wagon" at Community First! Village

Yes, we are "pregnant' … not in the "we are having a baby" kind of way.  But in the "we are filled with something of great importance" kind of way.

Here's the deal … about 10 years ago Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) began searching for property in Austin that would allow them to lift the homeless, chronically disabled off the streets by providing safe, affordable housing in a supportive, Christ-focused community.  Multiple times over the past decade MLF found property to develop for this purpose.  However, each time the answer ended up with a closed door.  The answer was something along the lines of, "Great idea.  But NOT in my backyard!"

Fast forward to 2012-13 … God faithfully provided MLF with a 27-acre piece of property in far East Austin … it was just outside the city limits (meaning less "red tape" and significantly less restrictions).   In August 2014, MLF broke ground on the property … and (here's the pregnant with great importance), in a few short weeks we'll begin moving residents into the development that we are calling Community First! Village.  Yes, it's almost time to bring our friends HOME!

The heightened sense of expectancy has created a dependence on the Lord.  We are navigating uncharted waters.  This new ministry / community is a powerful reminder of the need for faith … "…the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen" (Hebrews 11:1).   We are believing that God will grant us the grace to create a life-giving spiritual growth model that will produce a wave of dynamic Christ followers from CF! and beyond.  Please pray that this will happen!

Can you join us for a preview of what God has in store at Community First!?   We'll host The Gathering at CF! Sunday evening, July 19 at 6:09 pm … we'll worship, connect with new friends, cast vision and enjoy some F-R-E-E BBQ.

Thank you for praying, caring and investing in this new endeavor.  See you at the preview for The Gathering on Sunday evening, July 19 at 6:09 pm.

More to come …
