Aidan Cromer came to a defining moment when he and his wife, Cherisa, realized they needed to make major changes. “We were stuck with house payments and financial obligations that were sucking the life out of us. God made it clear we needed to downsize and simplify. So we bought a 300 square foot 5th wheel trailer and moved into a RV community in Austin.”
A few months later Aidan and his young family learned about Community First! Village, a 27-acre master planned community that provides affordable, sustainable housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas.
The Cromer’s quickly discerned that Community First! was where God was leading, “Almost immediately after hearing the vision we knew we wanted to be a part of living missionally at Community First! God made it clear that this was His plan for us. So we moved in a few months ago and have loved it. It has been stretching on every level, but has given our family the wonderful opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to our neighbors,” Aidan shared.
We are steeped in a culture that worships freedom, independence, personal rights and pursuit of the “American dream.” Unfortunately, our desires have gone haywire and easily distract Christ followers to lose sight of an eternal perspective. It is refreshing and convicting to see a living example (like the Cromer family) of what an “all-in” commitment in building God’s kingdom looks like.
31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Jesus in Matthew 6:31-33
