The Gospel message declared by Christians is simple: Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead (I Corinthians 15:3-7). Ten words. Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead. It’s NOT complex. It is the message that, if received by faith, delivers from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and one day, the presence of sin. And it is THAT message: Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead -- that we proclaim and live out among our friends and neighbors at Community First! Village.
Our Easter Sunrise celebration was amazing. We declared the power of Christ to resurrect lives as beautifully laid out in Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 1:18-21. We weaved the Gospel stories of Emily and Steve throughout the Scripture. Emily and Steve are neighbors at Community First! with lives tainted by the loss of family, abandonment, abuse, exploitation and homelessness. Steve is currently battling lung cancer. They eached moved to Community First!, became neighbors, fell in love and got married at the conclusion of the service. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G … and a fitting punctuation mark on the Gospel message that resurrects lives from hopelessness to hope, darkness to light, and death to life.
Thank you for empowering us to serve folks like Emily and Steve and hundreds of others through the ministry of The Gathering at Community First!
